What Americans need to know to benefit from an EMERGING ASIA
This is a relatively good time to travel to Asia. The US dollar is weak all over the world right now, but is holding somewhat firm against many Asian currencies. The Hong Kong dollar, Thai baht, Indian Rupee, and South Korean Won have been flat or even falling against the dollar over the past 4 months. Countries like Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines have always been inexpensive for Americans. You can still find deals there. China, Taiwan and Singapore will be more of a challenge. Japan is ridiculously expensive, but it's always like that. You just have to expect to spend a lot if you are going there. The very best travel deal I ever found in Asia is the Cathay Pacific All Asia Pass. No one is paying me to say that. I experienced it for myself. When I did it the pass was just $999. For that price I got to fly from Los Angeles to Hong Kong then on to the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Bali in Indonesia. I added an extra month and trips to India and South Africa. Since distances in Asia are vast this is the only way to see a lot of countries with limited time at a reasonable price.
